This research investigates ambient-cured, add-water geopolymer compositions made using fly ash, ground granulated blast-furnace slag and solid sodium metasilicate. This research introduces an arbitrary-domain element based on the Decoupled Scaled Boundary Finite Element Method for solving eigenvalue Helmholtz problems. Using simulated homogeneous shear flows, the study analyses particle rearrangements, velocity fluctuations and non-affine deformation, demonstrating how localised events can trigger further rearrangements in surrounding regions.
