Endling

Endling is a haunting and immersive solo performance by Legs On The Wall, presented as part of Vivid Sydney 2025 at Barangaroo Reserve. A confined, six-metre apparatus serves as both enclosure and stage - a sculptural “display case” for the last human, compelling audiences to confront our fragility, environmental legacy, and the choices that shape our collective fate.

Ironbridge played a critical role in bringing this provocative vision to life, providing custom design for the display case structure. As well as needing to support performers suspended at any point around the circular internal aerial track, the design needed to be ultra‑lightweight to maximise the visibility of the performer, compact for transport, easily packed down and assembled on site - all while maintaining integrity and safety.

The premiere of Endling ran nightly from 23 May to 14 June 2025, as a free, looping performance from 6 pm to 11 pm on the Walumil Lawns, Barangaroo Light Walk.

Through its intimate scale and emotionally resonant staging, Endling offers a deeply personal and thought-provoking experience—a stark and timely reflection on humanity’s endgame, made possible by innovative engineering collaboration.
